Companies rely on complex electronic equipment for various functions.

From industrial controls that automatically monitor and direct production processes on the factory floor to radar and missile control systems that support national defense, electronic devices are increasingly used to boost productivity and optimize results. These complex pieces of equipment are installed, maintained, and repaired by electronics technicians.

Students at Northeast start by learning the fundamentals of direct current and alternating current, and are eligible for Electronics Technicians Association, International certification after taking these two classes. The next steps are to learn motor controls, digital electronics, solid-state electronics, motors and transformers, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Students then progress to advanced industrial controls, troubleshooting, instrumentation, and process control, as well as industrial robotics, before participating in a cooperative work experience. The program is rigorous. Demands are high. However, those who successfully complete the program and demonstrate their skills during the internship will be highly sought after in the job market.

At Northeast Alabama Community College, all career and technical education opportunities will be offered without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.

At Northeast Alabama Community College, the lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission and participation in career and technical education programs.
