The Welding Technology program at Northeast Alabama Community College prepares students for high-demand careers in structural, pipe, and fabrication welding. Housed in our new Workforce Development Skills Training Center, students train in modern welding booths and fabrication spaces using industry-standard equipment designed to meet real-world workforce needs.

Whether you are entering the workforce for the first time or upgrading your skills, NACC’s welding program provides hands-on training aligned with Alabama industry and American Welding Society (AWS) standards.

Students train in:

  • Individual welding booths for SMAW, GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and FCAW
  • A newly expanded fabrication area
  • A CNC Plasma Cutting System for precision automated cutting
  • A large metal brake for advanced forming and fabrication
  • Tool and equipment training aligned with industry expectations

Our program emphasizes safety, blueprint reading, welding symbols, metallurgy fundamentals, and fabrication skills essential for today’s industrial workforce.

What You’ll Learn

Graduates of the Welding Technology program will:

  • Perform shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored, and TIG welding processes
  • Interpret blueprints and welding symbols
  • Demonstrate proper joint preparation and fit-up techniques
  • Operate fabrication equipment, including CNC plasma cutting systems
  • Apply OSHA safety standards in welding and fabrication environments
  • Prepare for industry-recognized certifications
