Child Development Program

The Child Development and Early Education program at Northeast Alabama Community College equips students with he knowledge and skills needed for a rewarding early education and childcare career.

To qualify for positions in local, federally, and state-funded early childhood programs such as Alabama's First Class Pre-K, Head Start, and Early Head Start, a minimum of 9 credit hours in Child Development coursework or a Short-Term Certificate is required.

Credentials Available

  • Short Term Certificates (3 classes)
  • Associate in Applied Science Degree in Child Development
  • AS Transfer coursework for bachelor's degree programs in education.

Dual Enrollment

Be prepared to enter the workforce upon graduation! Earn a Child Development Short-Term Certificate while attending high school. Child Development classes are offered.
