From floating arches and attics to Civil War-era furniture and decoration, this show is sure to be a brilliant sight to see. Along with this wonderful set design, a strong and wide-ranging group of talented community and student-based cast are going to sing this beautiful score live for all to enjoy. Under the Direction of Ms. Kayleigh Smith and the technical direction of Mr. Brad Archer, Little Women at NACC Theatre is set to be a wonderful production for all of North Alabama to enjoy!
Based on Louisa May Alcott’s beloved novel, Little Women, the musical follows the story of the four March sisters—Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy—as they navigate love, loss, ambition, and family during the Civil War era. Living with their devoted mother, Marmee, the sisters grow from childhood into adulthood while supporting one another through life’s joys and hardships. At the heart of the story is Jo March, a fiercely independent young writer determined to find her voice and make her mark on the world. As each sister pursues her own dreams—romance, artistic expression, or personal fulfillment—their paths change, sometimes pulling them apart while ultimately strengthening the bond they share.
NACC’s Theatre Department, led by Director of Theatre Kayleigh Smith, has used the college’s state-of-the-art technical equipment and talented theatre students, community members, and college staff to bring in-person productions back to the area.
Ms. Smith remarked: “Returning to Little Women feels like a full-circle moment for me. The last time we did this show, I was a senior in high school, and it was my first experience as assistant director—an experience that made me fall in love with directing and eventually led me to become the Director of Theatre here at NACC. This season, we’re honoring the history of NACC Theatre by bringing back beloved shows and welcoming back many theatre veterans. The company for this production is a beautiful blend of alumni and new faces. Louisa May Alcott’s story is timeless, and I know audiences are going to fall in love with our incredible cast just as I have.”
