Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC) held its annual Spring Fling with activities that engaged our campus organizations. Teaming up with the Children’s Advocacy Center’s Gathering Place and the college’s Student Resources Room, NACC’s organizations collected over $1600 worth of food items and toys during the month of April.
Coordinated by the NACC Student Government Association (SGA), the college’s organizations united to collect donations for these two worthy groups. Joan Reeves, Director of Student Activities, commented on the event saying, “I am so proud to work at NACC where people believe strongly in giving back to the community. The success of this event is due to the hard work of NACC students, faculty, and staff. I wish that all of them could have seen the look on the faces of the people who operate The Gathering Place. They were truly shocked but more importantly were grateful, noting that support like ours made it possible for them to continue to offer these services to the children in this area.”
Although the project was coordinated by the SGA, the college’s organizations made it the success it was. Organizations at NACC which participated in this effort were the Presidential Hosts (Sponsors Andrea Okwu and Paige Vaughn), Phi Theta Kappa (Sponsors, Billy Day and Olivia Dodd), Sigma Kappa Delta (Sponsors, Jeff Hawes, Jody Ragsdale, and Joan Reeves), Musical Ensembles (Sponsors Sara Markham and Stacy Morris), Campus Christian Ministries (Sponsors, Bryon and Katelyn Miller), Mu Alpha Theta (Sponsors, Milah Breland, John Camp, Thomas Frost, and Adam Niblett), Rotaract (Sponsors Keith McBride and Kristen Shelton), and SGA (Sponsor, Joan Reeves). The SGA would like to say a special ”thank you” to the Presidential Hosts who collected over $500 in necessary items for these two groups. Without the donations from all of these organizations, the Student Government Association would not have been able to make this such a successful Spring Fling project.
