SAND MOUNTAIN POTTERY EXHIBIT WELL ATTENDED
Mr. Joey Brackner, Director of the Alabama Center for Traditional Culture and host of the Alabama Public Television documentary program Journey Proud, along with Mr. Ron Countryman of Birmingham and Mr. Danny Maltbie of Albertville, moderated the event and gave a short presentation.
The presenters spoke about the history of Sand Mountain pottery, as well as their personal experiences as collectors. Over 70 people were in attendance, many of whom were collectors themselves or were descendants of Sand Mountain potters.
The exhibit will be on display in the Archives and Special Collections Room until mid-March. It includes pieces from various personal collections throughout the state, with an emphasis on pieces that are rarely displayed for public view and an emphasis on pieces from Jackson and DeKalb Counties.
