The Plumbers Apprentice Career Track program at Northeast Alabama Community College will begin Tuesday, September 6, 2016. The plumbing career field remains a high-growth employment sector for commercial construction, residential construction, and service/ maintenance related job opportunities. Participants for this program will train 144 hours which consists of:
Introduction to the Plumbing Profession
Plumbing Safety &Tools
Introduction to Plumbing Math & Drawings
Plastic, Copper, Cast Iron, Carbon Steel Pipes & Fittings
Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing
Fixtures & Faucets
Introduction to Drain, Waste, & Vent (DWV) Systems
Introduction to Water Distribution Systems
The Alabama State Plumbers and Gas Fitters Examining Board have agreed to waive one year of the two-year apprenticeship requirements for those who successfully complete this program.
Class will meet one day a week for approximately 36 weeks. Class times are 8:00 AM until noon. Additional opportunities for paid or unpaid work experience may be available.
According to America’s CareerInfoNet 2015, the estimated median hourly earnings for a plumbers apprentice in Alabama ranges from $8.38 to $17.23 with a 23% expected annual employment growth in Alabama through 2022.
