Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC) will host a ribbon cutting ceremony in celebration of the grand opening of the college’s new soccer field on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The event will begin at 2:00 p.m. on the soccer field on campus. The community is invited to attend. 

The Northeast Alabama men’s soccer team begins its second season of competition in 2026, and campus officials are looking forward to competing on home turf this year. The team played its home matches at various locations in 2025 as the on-campus facility remained under construction.

“It’s exciting to be dedicating our soccer field,” stated NACC President Dr. David Campbell. “We have one of the best fields in the south, and our field is a part of our sports and recreational complex at Northeast.” NACC’s sports and recreation complex is made up of the campus walking trail, soccer field, and state-of-the-art softball stadium.  “I hope everyone enjoys the beauty of this complex. It is everything I had in mind when the complex was just a dream.”  

The program was able to begin utilizing the field and newly-renovated locker room in November of 2025, after the close of the inaugural season. “We’re so excited about the home field and locker room,” said NACC Head Coach Tom Shanklin. “Just being able to walk out the door and be on the pitch has made things so much easier.”

Join the college to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the new facility. Refreshments will be served in the locker room. We encourage everyone to stay and watch the Mustangs as they face Itawamba Community College at 5 p.m. after the celebration.
