Hillary Green, a student at Northeast Alabama Community College, is one of 20 college students in the nation named to the prestigious All-USA Academic Team. Hillary has also been named a New Century Pathway Scholar based on her score earned in the All-USA Academic Team competition. More than 2,200 applications were received for the competition.
“We are extremely proud of Hillary,” stated NACC President Dr. David Campbell. “Not only is she an exceptional student, but a very talented musician as well. She is All-America in every sense!”
All-USA team members were selected for their outstanding intellectual achievement, leadership, community, and campus engagement. The All-USA Academic Team is sponsored by Cengage, with additional support provided by Phi Theta Kappa and AACC. Cengage’s industry-leading subscription for textbooks and materials, Cengage Unlimited, has helped over 4.8M students save over $580M on the cost of course materials since August 2018.
Hillary’s selection to the All-USA Academic Team provides her with a $5,000 scholarship. The All-USA Academic Team is sponsored by Cengage with additional support provided by the American Association of Community Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa.
As a New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar, Green will receive a $2,250 scholarship and be recognized at the Annual Phi Theta Kappa President’s Breakfast during the AACC Convention in April. This program is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Foundation and the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, with additional support provided by the American Association of Community Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa.
Green’s PTK sponsor and NACC Director of Institutional Planning and Assessment Olivia Dodd echoed Dr. Campbell’s praise of her, saying, “Hillary is a creative problem-solver! Our Phi Theta Kappa chapter has benefited from her skills and abilities. We are very proud of her success!”
NACC Dean of Student Services Jeff Hawes also spoke to Hillary’s recognition, saying, “We are so proud of Hillary and excited to see where the future will take her. She is one of the hardest working students with whom we've had the privilege of serving.”
The All-USA program is widely recognized as the most prestigious academic honor for students attending associate degree-granting institutions. Each college may nominate two students for showing intellectual rigor and demonstrating academic achievement, leadership, and civic growth. The program also recognizes students who extend their community college education to better themselves, their schools, and their surrounding communities.
