The 2019 Alabama Adult Education Conference was held recently in Birmingham, Alabama, and Northeast Alabama Community College’s Jonathon Nappier presided over the event. The conference of close to 500 adult education practitioners from throughout the state gathered to network with their counterparts, learn about new products and services in their industry, and sharpen their skills to better help their students was held at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel.
The theme of the conference was “Un-Masking Alabama’s Superheroes!” Nappier said, “If we value education, we must also value the people that educate. The teachers, aides, administrators, and support staff of adult education change lives, and are therefore, to me, superheroes. Teachers also un-mask the superheroes of tomorrow, and we want to make sure they are fully prepared.”
“We at Northeast are very pleased that one of our own was key in leading and organizing this conference,” stated NACC President Dr. David Campbell. “Congratulations to Mr. Nappier.”
Nappier was elected President of ALAPCAE, the Alabama Association for Public Continuing and Adult Education, in 2017, after serving as District 2 Representative for two years. He will continue to serve on the Board for the coming year as Ex-Officio. Nappier is the GED Chief Examiner and College/Adult Education Liaison for NACC.\
