Northeast Alabama Community College invites the public to attend an artifact exhibition entitled The Civil War in Northeast Alabama.
The exhibition, which will be held in the Archives and Special Collections Room on the second floor of the Learning Resources Center, will run from July 27 until August 12 and then re-open from August 22 until September 2. The hours will be Monday-Thursday from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm and Fridays from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon.
On loan from the private collection of various members of the community, the items include belt buckles, bullets, buttons, coins, original documents, and other such items. Mr. Blake Wilhelm, NACC Archivist/Specialist, stated, “With the Tennessee River serving as a dividing line between Union and Confederate armies for much of the Civil War, Northeast Alabama was an important region with a unique role to play in the war. This collection is a broad representation, both in artifacts and in original documents, of the war in this region.”
