Northeast Alabama Community College is pleased to announce that The Alabama Community College System and The University of Alabama are launching a unique partnership to help Alabamians earn a four-year degree.
Through the Bama Link partnership, students earn an associate degree from NACC (or any ACCS institution) and then apply to a University of Alabama distance learning program. Once accepted, students become eligible for a tuition grant that covers tuition for one 3-credit-hour course. Faculty and staff of NACC (or other ACCS institutions) who wish to pursue a distance learning degree are also eligible for this grant.
“We have several students who have dreams of attending the University of Alabama after their time here at NACC,” said Bryon Miller, Transfer Advisor at NACC. “Some of them never meet that goal because of financial restraints or the need to stay in our area to support their families. This new partnership aids them in solving those issues and it’s exciting to see more of these opportunities coming available for our students.”
Students may choose from a number of bachelor degree programs offered online through The University of Alabama. The degree earned requires students to meet the same high standards as those set for campus students. Courses are taught by the same professors who teach campus students. The online format means students can earn a degree from UA while working and living at home.
“We are excited about this collaboration with the University of Alabama,” said Dr. Joe Burke, Vice President/Dean of Instruction at NACC. “This is an opportunity for NACC students who have earned an Associate’s degree to complete their Bachelor’s degree while enjoying the convenience and value of online classes.”
