The Northeast Alabama Community College Foundation exists to support scholarships for students and to support the mission of the College. The Foundation was organized and incorporated in 2002 for the purpose of stimulating voluntary private support from alumni, parents, friends, corporations, foundations, and others for the benefit of the College.
Through the generosity of donors, the NACC Foundation assists students in achieving their educational goals by providing financial assistance. Since 2011, the NACC Foundation has provided scholarships to 279 students totaling $430,000.
As a community college, Northeast provides a firm foundation for all students, both traditional and non-traditional. Finding adequate financial assistance is one of the most common hurdles facing today’s students. Many NACC students balance full and part-time jobs, as well as caring for their families while completing their coursework. Through the generosity of donors, the NACC Foundation is able to provide this needed assistance through scholarships.
This year, the Foundation is excited to increase their funding ability through the “I Give Back” campaign. NACC has provided affordable, accessible educational opportunities for local residents since 1965 through traditional on-campus instruction, dual enrollment, distance learning, and skills training opportunities. By donating $19.65 to the NACC Foundation, the “I Give Back” campaign gives alumni and community members the opportunity to make a difference for future Northeast students. Since the campaign encourages online donations, it is also accessible for everyone!
“The NACC Foundation is finding new ways to involve our communities in scholarship fundraising efforts for students,” stated Heather Rice, NACC Development Director. “Through social media we are able to reach a larger audience that may not attend Foundation events. Many of these people would like the opportunity to donate to the Foundation, and they simply haven’t been asked.”
Advertising this campaign on social media also allows the Foundation to share their mission with a larger audience. “The social media campaign is an exciting way to inform people about the NACC Foundation’s accomplishments,” said Rice. “We also want to ensure the donation process is simple. Donating through our website is easy and takes less than five minutes!”
NACC Assistant Foundation Fundraiser Rachael Graham encourages community members to support current and future students by giving online. “A scholarship to Northeast provided me with a jumpstart to attend college and pursue my career, so I am excited for the results of the “I Give Back” campaign,” said Graham.
