Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC) and First Southern State Bank (FSSB) invite you to participate in the Mustang 5K Run/Walk that will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Presented by First Southern State Bank, proceeds from the Mustang 5K benefit scholarships at NACC. The race course takes place each year on the campus of Northeast and is held rain or shine. Individuals of all fitness levels are welcome.

NACC Cross Country Coach Patrick Laney is now serving as the Race Director for the 5K. He says he is excited about this event and how it brings the community together. “First Southern State Bank has done an awesome job helping us to grow this event each year,” said Coach Laney. “I am grateful for their support of NACC and how they are involving our cross country team. The race route will be adjusted due to construction on campus, but it is a great race and one I have enjoyed participating in before becoming a coach. I encourage folks to come out and join us as a portion of the proceeds will support our team next season.”

Participants may register online at runsignup.com/Race/AL/Rainsville/FirstSouthernStateBankMustang5KRunWalk. All racers registered by February 20 will receive a long-sleeve t shirt!

“We are delighted to host this family-friendly event,” said Scott Kirk, President of First Southern State Bank. “The Mustang 5K provides a unique experience for participants to run or walk on the beautiful campus of Northeast Alabama Community College while raising needed funds for scholarships for area students.  We invite everyone to join us for a morning of fitness and fun."
