Four Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC) employees were recognized recently at the 2018 Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony in Mobile. The ceremony was held during the Alabama Community College Association annual conference luncheon.
The Alabama Community College System Chancellor’s Awards began 32 years ago to reward and recognize those who have exemplified outstanding performance and dedicated service to their college. Northeast’s Class of 2018 Chancellor’s Award recipients are Keri Hamrick, Hugo DeAngelis, Andrea Okwu, and Andrea Harvey.
Keri Hamrick, History Instructor, has been at Northeast for six years. She stated, “I am so honored to receive the Chancellor’s Award. It is so gratifying to teach in an environment that from the top down is dedicated to student achievement and success. My six years at NACC have been some of the most rewarding of my life.”
Hugo DeAngelis, Machine Tool Technology Instructor, has been full time at Northeast for two and one half years. He said, “I feel honored to be presented with this award. It shows recognition of the efforts and hard work of all of us at the College to serve the people and industry of our community. In two short years, we have improved not only student numbers but also student abilities. Our machining classes are full and provide our students with high quality curriculum and equipment relevant to the fast-paced growth of the manufacturing industry we support. NACC has provided me with the opportunity and the resources to build a Machine Tool Program of which we can all be proud. For that and this award, I am forever grateful.”
Andrea Okwu, Coordinator of High School Relations and Recruiting, has worked at Northeast for 12 years. She stated, “I am very passionate about my job at Northeast and working to better the lives of students by helping them begin their college career at NACC. Although I don’t need an award or someone to tell me to keep doing it, I’m appreciative to receive recognition that I am making a difference in lives.”
Andrea Harvey, has been working at Northeast for 12 years as an Admissions Office Assistant. She said, “Receiving the Chancellor’s Award is truly an honor. Northeast is such an amazing place to work and allows me to do what I am passionate about most which is helping others.”
Dr. David Campbell, NACC President, stated, “It is a privilege to have nominated these very deserving staff and faculty members for the Chancellor’s Award. It is people like them that make Northeast such an exceptional place. Each has made outstanding contributions to the college and our community.”
