The Northeast Alabama Community College Sand Mountain Soiree is one of the most looked forward to events of the New Year. Lyda Jones Burnette, freelance culinary consultant, will be on campus as guest presenter for the annual Soiree on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 11 AM. The event will be held in the NACC Tom Bevill Lyceum and includes a brunch and demonstrational speech. It will be an informative and fun morning with Mrs. Burnette.
Lyda Jones Burnette, former Southern Living Test Kitchen Director, is a freelance culinary consultant. Her 20+ year career in food has taken her from the kitchens of Charleston, South Carolina, to managing a kitchen of recipe testers at the Time, Inc. flagship magazine, Southern Living. Her stove simmers now with recipes for Country Living magazine, also based in Birmingham. A north Alabama native, born and raised in Scottsboro, she now makes her home with her family in Birmingham where she keeps her cast iron in mint condition and cooks with it often. She and her husband, Kane, are the parents of three children, ages 6, 9, and 11 (and to a 1 ½ year old Welsh Corgi).
Chasley Bellomy, NACC Event Planner, said, “We are so excited Lyda will be our 2019 Guest Speaker for Soiree. Her family has been friends with mine for years and we connected a few months ago. I have always thought Lyda would be such a great speaker for this event, and I am so grateful is has worked out. We are absolutely thrilled over everyone’s support for Soiree. It has sold out within weeks of announcing and we could not be more thankful.”
