By its design, the 2-1-1 system is ideally suited for serving as the initial contact point for any variety of programs. 2-1-1 links the caller to resources for basic human needs, physical and mental health, employment support, support for senior citizens, support for children, youth, and families, and support during a disaster such as a tornado or hurricane.
