Northeast’s Rural Health Club serves its community by providing healthcare exposure and volunteer experience to students from rural areas interested in serving their medically underserved communities through healthcare professions. Members of the club aim to make a positive change in their immediate community regarding rural medicine, student opportunity, and health disparity. As an affiliate of the Alabama Rural Health Association (ARHA) and the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), this club welcomes day, evening, and online students who plan to enter the health professions, as well as anyone who has an interest in improving healthcare and the lives of people in rural communities. Ours is the first ARHSA club to be organized in Alabama at a community college. NACC joins with several of the 4-year colleges and universities in offering this club on its campus. Rural Health Club emphasizes community outreach and disseminating information about health-related careers, health-related issues and legislative actions related especially to rural health.
