Northeast Alabama Community College offers many two-year degrees that can lead you to a lucrative career. We can help you determine which majors may suit you best, and which will provide you with the most potential. If your dream job requires a four-year degree, we have staff to help you prepare as you transfer to another university. The process for students who are undecided, or are looking to change their major, usually starts with an appointment to take the Kuder Journey Career Assessment.
Kuder Journey is a one-of-a-kind solution to help you plan for the right career. Based on your specific needs, Journey provides reliable tools to assess your interests, suggest education and career options, prepare you for the job search, and connect you to today’s jobs. The assessment consists of three sections: Career Interests, Skills Confidence, and Work Values. These sections are combined using time-tested algorithms to determine what careers would best suit you. A trained Career Advisor would of course review and interpret your scores. From there, you will have full access to explore both the careers suggested, and any other areas of interest that were not suggested. This includes career data such as job outlooks, salary information, expected tasks and conditions, education requirements, related occupations, and much more. After you have taken the assessment and had your results explained, you will most likely need a follow-up appointment. This appointment is basically a second career advising session. You will have time between sessions to explore career opportunities using the Kuder Journey software, Virtual Job Shadow software, and other resources. During your follow up session, we will try to really nail down what you want your career to be. Most students will decide on a career and declare a major during one of these to sessions. Some need further time to decide, and we will do our best to meet your individual needs.
