STRENGTHENING INSTITUTIONS PROGRAM

Northeast Alabama Community
College is pleased and honored to have been selected to
receive from the U. S. Department of Education a Title
III Strengthening Institutions Program grant. This grant
is in the amount of $1.2 million over a 5 year period
and will focus on Enhancing Student Engagement in
Learning and Student/Faculty Interaction with
Technology, with two Components: (1) Technology
Infrastructure and (2) The Student and Faculty
Technology Learning Center. The grant will be used to
enhance technology access in the classroom and involving
students, faculty and technology support personnel into
learning communities and preparing them to maximize the
potential that current technologies afford.
The grant period began October 1, 2009, and will
continue through September 30, 2014. Some of the many
activities that are taking place as a result of the
grant: (1) equipping classrooms with the latest
technology available to enhance course content delivery;
(2) establishing the Student and Faculty Technology
Learning Center; (3) hiring a director for the Center
who will coordinate student and faculty training in
technology and coordinate the learning communities and
(4) installing wireless capability throughout the
campus.
