Faculty and Staff returned to work on Tuesday, January 3rd from the holiday break. Classes began on Friday the 6th with three blackboard orientations. During the next week 15 orientations were held on campus for students. One hundred-twenty-two students attended a non-required on campus Blackboard Orientation. We are now able to offer students an online orientation course as well. This course is provided free by Blackboard because the director of the TLC took part in a 9.1 Co-Hort course.

January and February were busy tutoring months for the TLC. We saw an average of 677 students during January and February. Several one on one faculty training sessions were held and the director of the TLC attended the Florida Educational Technology Conference. Faculty training will be held on campus during March to share the new technologies from the conference.

The director of the TLC and VP/Dean of Instruction met with members of the Blackboard team to discuss adding some new technologies to campus. Blackboard CONNECT is the leading mass notification system in education and government. Proven, reliable emergency alerts and outreach messages. This would allow faculty another resource for communication and collaboration with their students. Northeast is also considering the addition of Blackboard Mobile. The Blackboard Mobile™ Learn application gives students and faculty access to their courses, content, and organizations on a variety of mobile devices including Android™, BlackBerry® and iPhone OS. Northeast recently implemented the first two year college system Mobile App.
