ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1. Unconditional acceptance to Northeast Alabama Community College. 2. A 2.5 overall college grade point average (GPA) or 2.5 high school GPA. 3. Complete application to the Nursing Program and submit to the nursing department by June 1st prior to the fall semester in which the student desires consideration for admission into the nursing program. 4. Score at the twelfth grade level (76) or above on the reading portion of the COMPASS test (or ACT Reading score of 17 or higher). Students who score less than 76 will have one (1) additional opportunity to take the COMPASS Reading Test. COMPASS test score or ACT score must be within the past three (3) years. 5. Meet essential functions required for nursing. 6. Be in good standing with the college. 7. Complete requirements for student profile. a. Application to the nursing program. b. College and/or high school transcripts. c. COMPASS or ACT Reading test score. 8. Application must include a copy of the COMPASS or ACT Reading Score and a transcript of all colleges attended. It is the responsibility of the student to keep the nursing application updated. Applicants are encouraged to verify completion of profile prior to the filing deadline.
SELECTION OF APPLICANTS
1. Grade earned in BIO 201, 202, and 220 or high school grades in Algebra II, Biology, and Chemistry. 2. COMPASS Reading test score of 76 or greater or ACT Reading score of 17 or greater. 3. Evaluation of student profile by the Nursing Admission Committee.
Bonus points will be given to students who are currently enrolled or who have successfully completed courses at Northeast Alabama Community College.

EVALUATION OF NURSING APPLICANT
Each applicant will be evaluated according to the following scale. Applicants will be selected according to their total score.
Biology courses can earn up to a maximum of thirty points each depending on grade earned. (A = 30 points; B = 20 points; C = 10 points)

TRANSFER, ADVANCED PLACEMENT AND READMISSION There must be a vacancy in the nursing class before consideration will be given to a request for transfer, advanced placement, or readmission. |

Transfer: Any student who has previously attended another college will be considered a transfer student and will be required to furnish an official transcript of all work attempted at other institutions and a letter from the nursing program administrator of the transferring institution before being considered for admission to the nursing program. Advanced Placement: Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) may receive advanced placement in the nursing program if licensed by the State of Alabama with documentation of employment as a LPN with a minimum of 500 clock hours within the 12 months prior to admission. The LPN must pass a knowledge assessment exam and all skills validations to be eligible for the ADN program. Readmission: Students wishing to file for readmission to the nursing program must submit timely applications. Two unsuccessful attempts (withdrawals or failures) will result in dismissal from the program.
COURSE GRADE A nursing course grade will be determined based on theory and clinical performance. Students must achieve a grade of “75%” or above in each required nursing course to continue in the nursing program. A grade below “75%” will result in a “D” or an “F” depending on the numerical score. Students must achieve a grade of “C” or higher in all required general education courses.
