Morning Workshop
“Where Desire Hits the Concrete: The Messy Crossroads of Poetry and Fiction”

In this workshop we’ll explore the importance of desire in any narrative. And we’ll use a few basic tools to crank up the yearning and get some poems and stories rolling.

Afternoon Workshop
“The Chemistry of Memory: Imagined Photographs and the Truths They Reveal”
In this workshop we’ll use a very basic tool, imagined photographs, to create memories that springboard a writer into a nonfiction narrative where a writer’s stories begin to appear like the images in the bottom of a photographer's developing tray.

In each of these workshops we will use simple, practical tools to help the writer create the material needed to discover a story, whether true or fictional, whether told in prose on in line breaks. These are hands-on workshops, a little bit of talking and a lot of experimenting on the page. Come with pen and paper and a desire to take your writing to a new level.
