NARRATIVE/JUSTIFICATION FOR JUDGMENT OF COMPLIANCE

Northeast Alabama Community College complies with the requirement to publish admissions policies, and these policies are consistent with the mission of the institution. The college’s Mission and Goals Statement begins as follows: The mission of Northeast Alabama Community College is to provide accessible quality educational opportunities, promote economic growth, and enhance the quality of life for the people of Alabama. The goals statement of the institution related to admissions is to have “An ‘open-door’ admission policy which ensures nondiscriminatory educational opportunities for citizens of all races, creeds, colors, national origins, genders, ages, disabilities, or social groups.” The Northeast admissions policies are published in the Catalog, available both in print and online. These admissions policies reflect Alabama State Board of Education policies 801.01 through 801.04.

Specifically, the institution grants admission to any applicant who possesses one of the following: an advanced or standard high school diploma, the General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or a composite score of 16 on the ACT. Those who receive the Alabama Occupational Diploma may enroll in certain non-degree programs, or, with a composite score of 16 on the ACT, may be admitted as a regular degree-seeking student. The admissions policies of the College and the Alabama State Board of Education adhere to the philosophy and commitment of making a quality education accessible via the “open-door” policy.
