NARRATIVE/JUSTIFICATION FOR JUDGMENT OF COMPLIANCE
Northeast Alabama Community College demonstrates compliance in defining and publishing policies regarding appointment and employment of faculty and staff. The college adheres to State Board Policy and policy guidelines issued by the chancellor regarding the appointment and employment of faculty and staff. Board Policy 204.01 gives the president the authority to appoint all faculty and staff at the local level. Policy 207.01 requires the president to submit a copy of each position announcement to the Department of Postsecondary Education and dictates that each announcement contain specific wording addressing exclusion and/or discrimination.
State Board Policy 602.02 requires that vacancies in presidential, full-time faculty, and other full-time administrative and supervisory positions, regardless of whether the position is shown on Salary Schedules A, B, C, or D, be filled according to the requirements of Partial Consent Decrees in Shuford, et al., v. Alabama State Board of Education, et al., in United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, Northern Division, Civil Action No. 89-T-196-N. Guidelines are issued by the chancellor.
Appointment and employment policy and procedure are defined and published at the institutional level in the Institutional Management Plan and in the Faculty & Staff Handbook.
