  • One of the major programs of Phi Theta Kappa International is the Honors Study Topic.  This topic, chosen every two years, is the foundation for much that we do as a local chapter.  This year and next, the Honors Study Topic is The Culture of Competition.  The topic will be a lot of fun to explore and research, and I’m sure it will lead to some interesting projects.  In order to get a feel for The Culture of Competition, we will be having weekly chapter meetings to explore this theme.  The meetings will start next Thursday, February 9, 2012, at 12:30PM, and they will continue, with a few exceptions, until the end of the semester.  Click here for a list of dates and topics in PDF format. We will meet in Room 102 in the Library.  Feel free to look over the list of topics, and attend the ones that interest you!  The sessions are designed to be fun experiences—not like boring, structured classes!  J  We will be watching film clips, having debates, listening to speakers, and much more!  So, please come as often as you can!

  • It is time to be thinking about Phi Theta Kappa Officers for next academic year (The term is from May 1-April 30).  In order to be an officer, you must plan to be enrolled in the fall of 2012 and the spring of 2013.  If you have any questions about being a Phi Theta Kappa Officer, please feel free to contact Mr. Fricks (fricksb@nacc.edu) or one of the current Phi Theta Kappa Officers, Elizabeth Wootten (ewootten1002@nacc.edu), Robert Avirett (ravirett0102@nacc.edu), or Kaitlyn Reynolds (kreynolds0721@nacc.edu).  I’m sure that they will tell you that it has been and continues to be a rewarding leadership experience!

  • If anybody is interested in running for Regional Phi Theta Kappa Officer, please contact Mr. Fricks.  This is an opportunity that would prove to be a great learning experience, and it would be a chance to gain valuable leadership experience that you can use in future endeavors!

  • The Regional Phi Theta Kappa Convention will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 9-10, 2012, at Calhoun Community College in Decatur.  There are a few spaces available for members to attend this event along with the PTK officers.  If you would like to go, please contact Mr. Fricks as soon as possible.

  • Mr. Fricks has a new office.  He is now in Suite 121 in the Wallace Administration Building.
