POSITION: Drafting & Design Technology Instructor

 

QUALIFICATIONS: The following are the minimum qualifications for this position:

 

1.            Associate’s degree in drafting/design technology or a related field is

          required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

2.            Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in drafting/design is

        required.

3.            Effective oral and written communication skills are required.

4.            Competency in the use of current educational technologies is required.

5.            Experience in teaching drafting and design technology at the community college

          or secondary vocational/technical level is preferred.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

Instructor must teach Drafting & Design Technology courses in both traditional and  online

 formats; counsel and advise students; sponsor student organizations; participate in

 college and departmental committee work; submit required reports on attendance and

 grades; assist in registration; and oversee the daily operations of the Drafting & Design

 Technology program.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:            

The duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

1.                  Organize, instruct, and supervise students in both the classroom and lab

              settings as assigned.

2.                  Prepare course syllabi and learning outcomes in conjunction with departmental

              guidelines.

3.                  Participate in selection of texts and teaching materials for drafting and design

              technology courses.

4.                  Serve as academic advisor for students as assigned.

5.                  Participate in early registration, regular registration, and schedule adjustment.

6.                  Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies.

7.                  Participate in the College’s planning process.

8.                  Serve on institutional committees and participate in college events, including

              in-service and graduation.

9.                  Assist in the development, evaluation, and revision of program curricula to

             insure maximum studentcompetency.

10.              Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College.

11.             Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional

             development and continuing education.

12.              Recruit students for program and College at large.

13.              Agree to teach day, evening and distance education classes, on and/or off

             campus.

14.              Work with local business and industry in job placement for students.

15.              Provide services and training to meet the needs of local business, industry,

             community organizations, and governmental agencies.

16.              Have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of

             Northeast Alabama Community College and the Alabama Community College

             System.

17.              Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others

              in the community.

18.              Collect and maintain performance data for reporting purposes.

19.              Maintain a safe, secure, and sanitary classroom and lab environment.

20.              Other duties as assigned.

 

 

SALARY:  Based upon the State Board of Education Salary Schedule D-1 to be

 determined by the applicant’s education and years of applicable experience.  This is

a nine-month position with summer teaching availability dependent upon enrollment.

INTERVIEW PROCESS:   The Recruitment and Selection Committee will screen all applicants for the position and then

select applicants for in-person interviews.  Upon completion of the in-person interviews, the Committee will recommend three

finalists for each position in alphabetical order to the College President.  The President will interview each finalist and make the

final employment decision.  Applicants will be required to come for any interviews at their own expense. Official transcripts

·         Minimum Computer skills required: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office

·         AutoCAD, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Project would be a plus, experience in use of Macro’s in Excel is a plus

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

·         General Office Environment and Manufacturing Environment with uncontrolled temperatures.
