New Student Orientation: "Begin Here
and Go Anywhere"
A sense of excitement and anticipation is in the air on the
campus of Northeast Alabama Community College as first-time
students attend orientation and registration for Fall Semester.
The NACC Orientation theme this year is “Begin Here and Go
Anywhere,” and students are provided with cloth NACC tote bags
to help them begin their educational journey.
NACC Dean of Student Services Tonie Niblett organizes and
conducts the orientation sessions. Students who attend the Fall
Semester are provided with information that will help ease their
transition into college and the Northeast community. Students,
for example, learn about financial aid, calculating grade point
averages, the types of degrees, tutoring services that are
available, student IDs, parking permits, faculty advising,
programs of study, the college’s new Career Planning Center,
setting goals, campus offices and services, e-mail and
personalized Internet NOAH accounts, and student activities.
Students also, with their advisors, select their courses and
register for the Fall Semester.
“We want the transition to college to be as smooth as possible
for our students,” stated NACC President Dr. David Campbell. “I
know many people, including myself, still remember the
excitement and sometimes uncertainty of enrolling in college. We
want our students to have a great experience here and to be able
to make the very most of their time with us both educationally
and socially.” Campbell added that Dean Niblett and the
Admissions staff do a tremendous job with the orientation
program. “The key to their outstanding work is that Dean Niblett
and the Admissions Staff are so dedicated to students and
genuinely want to see students succeed,” Campbell added.
Registration continues at the college, with classes beginning
August 21, 2009. Previously enrolled students may register
online or on campus August 19-20, 2009. New students should
contact the NACC Admissions Office ext 243. New students may
enroll at the college now and then attend an orientation session
at the beginning of the Fall Semester. Late Registration for
fall classes is August 21-27, 2009.
Students (L-R) Ethan Gilbert, Jessica Rigstad,
Tommy Wilson, and Rachel Smith attended orientation held on the
NACC campus this week.
