Jacksonville State University
Establishes Business/Management Degree Program with Northeast
Alabama Community College
Officials at Jacksonville State University (JSU) have devised a
program through which students at Northeast Alabama Community
College may complete a baccalaureate degree in Business or
Management online. Dr. William Fielding, Dean of the JSU College
of Commerce and Business Administration, recently was on the
NACC campus to announce the program. Fielding noted that the
partnership with Northeast also permits students to receive a
scholarship waiver of $50 per hour at JSU if STARS requirements
for transfer are completed. The STARS program is a system that
guarantees the transfer of courses between Alabama’s community
colleges and public four-year universities if guidelines are
followed. The JSU scholarship is in the form of a waiver of the
university’s online technology fee.
“This is a great opportunity for students wanting a degree in
business or management,” stated Dr. David Campbell, NACC
President. “Dean Fielding, his faculty, and staff have devised a
very good program that permits a seamless transition from our
courses at Northeast to those needed at JSU to complete their
degrees. It is a very well structured program.”
The College of Commerce and Business Administration at JSU has
the distinction of being one of the five percent of business
schools worldwide to be accredited by the Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business. This recognition is considered
the “Gold Standard” for accreditation of business schools.
Fielding also noted that the JSU partnership with Northeast is
the first one for this program that JSU has established with a
community college, but plans are to establish the same program
with community colleges throughout the state. Fielding pointed
out that JSU has an outstanding educational history with
Northeast and through the years many outstanding students have
transferred to JSU from NACC and completed their degrees. NACC
Vice President/Dean of Instruction Dr. Joe Burke worked with
Fielding to bring the online program to Northeast.
For additional information about the online transfer program,
