Workforce Forum February 15, Public
Invited
Northeast Alabama Community College will serve as the site of a
community forum on Thursday, February 15. The forum, sponsored
by the Southern Growth Policy Board and the North
Alabama/Southern Tennessee WIRED Region, will take place from
1:00 until 3:00 p.m. and will be held in the Tom Bevill Lyceum
lobby.
The Southern Growth Policies Board is a non-partisan public
policy think tank based in Research Triangle Park, North
Carolina. Formed by the region's governors in 1971, Southern
Growth Policies Board develops and advances visionary economic
development policies by providing a forum for partnership and
dialog among a diverse cross-section of the region's governors,
legislators, business and academic leaders and the economic- and
community-development sectors. This unique public-private
partnership is devoted to strengthening the South's economy and
creating the highest possible quality of life.
According to Mike Kennamer, Director of Workforce Development at
Northeast Alabama Community College, the Southern Growth
Policies Board holds community forums each year across the South
in an effort to start a conversation about a particular issue.
This year’s issue and forum title is "Building the Next Southern
Workforce."
“Northeast is pleased to host this forum,” stated NACC
president, Dr. David Campbell. “We think that anything we can do
that potentially helps develop the workforce and create jobs for
our area is a positive step. Ultimately what we want through
these type forums are ideas turning into actions.”
The forum hosted at Northeast is one of several being offered
across the South.
Joyce Bratcher, assistant director of the Impact Learning Center
in Scottsboro, will serve as moderator for the forum. No
reservations are required. For more information about the forum,
e-mail Mike Kennamer at
kennamerm@nacc.edu or phone extension 291.
