NACC Student Nabs Individual Trophy

Northeast Alabama Community College student, Jake Hicks of Stevenson won a trophy at an Alabama quiz competition sponsored by the National Academic Quiz Teams Organization. Hicks placed fourth out of over seventy two-year students from Alabama and northern Florida. The competition was held on February 9, 2008 at the Marion Military Institute.

"Jake is a valued member of our team," said Dr. Daphne Huntley, co-sponsor of the Northeast Quiz Team. "He, along with the rest of the team, defeated seven of the eight two-year teams from Alabama. So we're pleased with our teams' performance, and we're looking forward to more in the state competition."

Other members of the Northeast Quiz Team competing at Marion included Candice Lynch, who finished sixth on her individual performance, Garrett Monroe of Pisgah, Rutual Patel of Fort Payne and Kasey Kuykendall of Geraldine.

Northeast competes next in an Alabama College Bowl competition at Jefferson State Community College on March 7, 2008.
