NACC Paramedics Have 100% Pass Rate On
Exam
Northeast Alabama Community College is pleased to announce that
all spring graduates of the paramedic program passed the
National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic
examination on first attempt in June resulting in a 100%
first-time pass rate. The national average first-time pass rate
for paramedics is 63%. The Alabama average first-time pass rate
for paramedics is about 38%.
“We are extremely proud of our students’ success on this exam,”
said Roger Wootten, Director of the EMT/Paramedic Programs at
Northeast. “We are also proud that all of these graduates are
currently working at local ambulance services, giving back to
their communities.”
“These pass rates are indicative of our efforts at Northeast to
provide high quality health care programs in all fields to the
community,” stated Dr. David Campbell, President of Northeast.
“We realize the great importance of emergency health care and
our staff and students are to be congratulated on this
accomplishment.”
Paramedics generally provide advanced emergency medical care and
transportation to the sick and injured while alleviating as much
suffering as possible. Additionally, paramedics are beginning to
discover employment opportunities in hospitals, manufacturing
and processing industries, air medical services, and primary
care clinics. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, EMT and
Paramedic jobs will increase an estimated 19 percent, or 39,000
jobs from 2006 through 2016, which is faster than average for
all occupations. Job prospects for paramedics are favorable due
to high demand for their services.
Northeast offers certificate and degree options for paramedic
students and will be starting another class in January 2009. EMT-Basic
certification is required to enroll in the paramedic program.
