New Mathematics Instructor at Northeast
Alabama Community College
Sharon Denise Totten of Fort Payne was
named full time instructor of mathematics for the fall semester
at Northeast Alabama Community College, where she had taught
part time in the past.
In addition to her experience as a
part-time instructor at Northeast, Totten has worked at Fort
Payne High School as mathematics teacher, English
teacher, and assistant principal. She also served as
assistant principal at Williams Avenue Elementary School for
three years and assistant principal at Wills Valley Elementary
School for one year. She served as Student Council sponsor at
Fort Payne High School for 13 years, directed and/or wrote
senior plays at Fort Payne High School for eight years, and
served as Activities Director at Fort Payne High School for
eight years.
Totten
is a graduate of Fort Payne High School and Northeast Alabama
Community College. She has a Bachelor’s degree in secondary
education (math and English) from Jacksonville State University, a Master’s degree in secondary education (math and English),
an add-on certification in administration, and an Ed.S. degree
in administration from The University of Alabama. She is
currently working on her Ed.D. degree through The University of
Alabama.
“Northeast is a wonderful place to be!”
said Totten. “I love watching the growth and fulfillment that
our students have each time they are successful in some
endeavor. The atmosphere of Northeast is extremely welcoming and
it is definitely a place that I have been made to feel at home!”
Totten has three sons; Jonathan
Crawford—Senior Airman in the United States Air Force, stationed
at the Presidio of Monterey, CA; Christopher Crawford—Airman
First Class, stationed at Yokota Air Force Base in Japan; and
Robert Crawford—who lives and works in Fort Payne and is the
father of her two grandchildren, Ali and Ryan.
“I love to run, road bike and mountain
bike,” said Totten. “I have enjoyed participating in several
marathons, half marathons, triathlons, etc.” She added that
spending time with her precious family, of course, is her
favorite pastime. |
