Medical Assistant Students Participate
in Model Office Building Projects
The Medical Administrative class at Northeast Alabama Community
College, taught by Marilyn Dalton, was given an assignment to
construct a model of a medical clinic/physicians’ office with
details concerning OSHA standards, HIPPA, acoustic design, ADA
regulations, as well as security features and issues. The names
of the clinics and awards they received were: Northeast Alabama
Women’s Healthcare Associates which won the Best Teamwork award,
In a Heartbeat winning Best Notebook, Preferred Care Pediatrics
Clinic won Best Design, Cricket Kids Clinic achieving Best Use
of Technology, and Sneeze, Sniffle and Immunology winners of
Best All Around.
Medical Assisting is a popular career nationwide. Beside the
fact that jobs are plentiful, the graduate is skilled in working
in clinics which normally have day time work hours, without
weekend and holiday work, which appeals to career/family
oriented students. Medical Assistants assist physicians in the
examination and treatment of patients as well as perform routine
office tasks. As a Medical Assistant you can work side by side
with other members of the healthcare team treating patients from
newborns to senior citizens.
The program offers classroom as well as online courses.
