Medical Assistant Training for a
Fast-Growing Profession
Northeast Alabama Community College has training available in
Medical Assistant and Medical Transcription. These are among the
fastest growing fields in health care. Students in the Medical
Assistant Program learn a multitude of administrative and
clinical skills that prepares them to work in physician’s
offices, clinics, or even medical records in medical facilities.
A medical transcriptionist prepares clear, readable medical
documents from doctor’s digital or audio taped patient notes.
These documents are used for medical care, medical recordkeeping
and insurance reimbursement. Medical Assistants learn many other
useful skills such phlebotomy, EKG training, how to give
injections, coding and billing, etc.
Anyone interested in training to become a Medical Assistant
should contact Rachel Walker at
walkerr@nacc.edu, or phone
ext. 323 at Northeast Alabama Community College. Medical
Assistant classes are available day or evening on campus and
online. Regular registration for the fall semester is August
18-19, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. All new students should
call the Admissions Office at ext. 222 for an appointment for
new student orientation to be held July 21–24.
