Online Resources Accommodate NACC Students

The Learning Resources Center at Northeast Alabama Community College has the many traditional resources that come to mind when one thinks of “library,” such as its collection of over 61,000 books and its subscriptions to over 120 different magazines, journals, and newspapers.

But students have access to its numerous online resources such as an online catalog that includes access to over 42,000 eBooks (electronic books). eBooks are full-text copies of books that are viewable from a computer; the library patron reads a book, only from a computer screen rather than holding a physical book.

Library patrons also have access to online magazine, journal, and newspaper articles, which are available through the Alabama Virtual Library and through the library’s subscriptions to several other databases.

Students work at Internet-connected computers in the Library.

"Incorporating technology into a student’s educational experience is so important since technology has become such a part of our lives,” stated Julia Everett, Director of the Learning Resources Center at NACC. “Students are no longer limited to researching when the library building is open. If work or family obligations limit the amount of time students spend on campus, technology enables them to access many of the library’s resources twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week from the comfort of their own home.”
