Annual Holiday Gala Honors Alumnus

The Northeast Alabama Community College Foundation Board hosted its annual Holiday Gala on Thursday, December 12th, in the lobby of the Tom Bevill Lyceum. This year the Foundation honored David Holder, Plant Manager of Southern Operations for Sanoh America in Scottsboro, as NACC Alumnus of the Year.

Holder was a NACC transfer student and credits students that have attended Northeast with having a positive impact on growth and development within the state. Northeast averages over 50% of their students as transfer students who attend for their freshman and sophomore year then transfer to a four-year college to finish their degree. Holder transferred to Auburn University and graduated with a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering. Holder remembered many classes at Northeast that provided the critical foundation he needed to achieve his goals and named many of his math and science professors including Tonie Niblett, Dr. John Vance and Clifford Black. “Northeast provided a strong foundation in the engineering field for me and many of my friends,” stated Holder. Holder was very complimentary of Northeast during his speech. “We are very proud of Mr. Holder’s accomplishments and the fact that he got the foundation for his education here at Northeast,” stated NACC President Dr. David Campbell. “Mr. Holder is just an outstanding representative for Northeast in the community and the business world.”

Holder began his career at Sanoh in May 2000 and in 2008 was promoted to Plant Manager. He is responsible for four automotive manufacturing facilities in the South that produce fuel and brake lines for Honda, Nissan and Toyota that includes 340 employees and $68 million in sales. In his speech he noted that 21% of his salary staff and 40% of his technical staff have received degrees and certificates from Northeast. “Northeast has made a positive impact on my staff members which in turn has impacted the success of our company,” Holder stated.

The NACC Foundation Holiday Gala honors an alumnus each year from DeKalb or Jackson County.
