College Foundation Holds Gala Celebration
The Northeast Alabama Community College Foundation recently celebrated its
annual Christmas Gala at the college. Some 170 community people attended the
sold-out event held in NACC’s Tom Bevill Lyceum. Those attending were treated to
dinner and entertainment provided by the NACC Jazz Band, directed by Dr. Dan
Knox, and Encore!, directed by Dr. Kathy Adkins. Chattanooga television news anchor David
Carroll was recognized at the event as the NACC Alumnus of the Year.
The
NACC Foundation Board comprises leaders from DeKalb and Jackson counties,
and the intent of the organization is to support the college through its
activities and fundraising. “I want to thank the Foundation Board members, and
all people in attendance, who participated in this event,” stated NACC President
Dr. David Campbell. “It is very encouraging to us at Northeast to have this
level of support.”
Jim Blevins serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the NACC Foundation
and Hoyt Harbin serves as President. Board members also include Senator Lowell
Barron, Jean Cooper, David Dodd, Jimmy Durham, Freddy Glover, Arlene Grede,
Susan Hawkins, Tom Lackey, John Lyda, Susan Metcalf, Randy Owen, Pat Smith,
Stephen Smith, and James Tidmore. NACC Event Planner, Susan Barron, assisted the
foundation in planning the Gala along with NACC staff members Andrea Wheeler,
Nancy Griggs, and Mark Webb.
