Fishing Teams Place in FishLife Collegiate Bass Tournament

Students in the Northeast Alabama Community College Fishing Club placed well in the FishLife series collegiate fishing tournament March 8 on Lake Guntersville. Thirty-eight boats competed in this tournament including the University of Alabama, UAB, and out-of-state Clemson University.

Northeast was represented well with Hayden Tilley and Jeff Reynolds placing seventh. Coming within a couple of pounds of first place, Trey O’Daniel and Seth Phillips finished second. Trey and Seth made a long trip up river and it paid off well for them bringing in 27.7 lbs.

“Bryan Roe and I loved getting to be there and see our whole team fishing this tournament,” said Ross Boydston. “It was a great start to the 2014 season.” Roe and Boydston are sponsors of the NACC Fishing Club.

NACC Fishing will be competing next in the Cabela’s BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Open on March 14 on Lake Chickamauga for a chance at $2,400 first place prize.

The FishLife Collegiate Tour was established by Sportsman’s Media Group in 2012 to give all collegiate anglers a chance to compete against one another and other college teams in a series that spans the entire year fishing the beautiful lakes of Alabama. This is Northeast’s second year entering the competitions.
