Train to be a Fiber Optics Technician in Seven Days at NACC

Northeast Alabama Community College, in partnership with BDI DataLynk, will present a series of Fiber Optic training courses beginning Monday, April 19, 2010. Training includes both classroom instruction and hands-on participation. All training courses are internationally recognized, accredited by BICSI, and sanctioned by the Fiber Optics Association.

The 3-day introductory Basic Fiber Optics (CFOT) course is designed for persons interested in becoming a Certified Fiber Optics Technician. Training will begin Monday, April 19 through Wednesday, April 21, 2010. This training prepares a participant to take the Certified Fiber Optics Technician exam given at the end of the course. Successful completion of this course is required prior to taking all other courses. Cost of the three-day (COFT) training is $700, which includes textbooks, study materials, course CD, award of completion, 1-year membership to the Fiber Optics Association, and certification exam.

The Certified Fiber Optics Specialist in Testing and Maintenance is a 2-day program designed to offer advanced training to anyone involved with the testing and maintenance of fiber optics networks. Training is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, April 22 & 23, 2010. Cost of the two-day (CFOS/T) training is $675, which includes textbooks, study materials; course CD, award of completion, and exam.

The Certified Fiber Optics Splicing Specialist is a 2-day course, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 24 & 25, 2010. Knowledgeable instructors explain the importance of high performance splicing and detail the points necessary to achieve these splices. Cost of the two-day (CFOS/S) training is $675, which includes textbooks, study materials, course CD, award of completion, and exam.

Courses will be held on the NACC campus from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Interested participants should have a basic working knowledge of computers, ability to identify small items, and ablity to speak and understand the English language.
