NACC to Transmit English Course
Northeast Alabama Community College president Dr. David Campbell
recently announced that the college will transmit an ENG 101
course – English Composition I
– from the Northeast campus to the
DeKalb County Technology Center (DCTC) this Spring. This
arrangement allows students to attend the class either on campus
or at the DCTC site.
“It is a great opportunity to use state-of-the-art technology to
serve a very practical purpose,” stated Mike Kennamer, Director
of Workforce Development at NACC. The technology to be used is
video teleconferencing equipment located both in the new Health
Education Center at Northeast and in the DCTC facility. “We are
offering the course in this format at the request of (DCTC
Director) Gelane Nelson, who let us know that some of her
faculty need this class,” added Kennamer.
Joan Reeves, Chair of the NACC English and Fine Arts Division,
noted, “Technology continues to modify the way we approach
education, and the English department looks forward to being a
part of this progress at Northeast. Providing this
teleconference course offers students in our service area
another opportunity to complete coursework at the college
level.”
NACC also teaches cosmetology and industrial electronics classes
on the DCTC campus. It is expected that students in these
classes will take advantage of the convenience of having the
English class offered on the DCTC campus.
The class will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15
until 4:30 pm. Students may attend classes in room 241 of the
Health Education Center or at the DeKalb County Technology
Center site. The class will be taught by Dr. Linda Raughton.
Those interested in taking the class should register through the
college. Regular registration takes place on January 3-4, 2008. |
