Looking for an Exciting New Career? What About Becoming an EMT or Paramedic?

The Emergency Medical Services program at Northeast Alabama Community College stands ready to prepare you for an exciting career in emergency medical services. The program is entering a new era with the addition of the new Health Education building to campus, as well as new state-of-the-art equipment, e.g., the cardiac monitor. Instructional technology has been integrated into the classrooms and more new equipment is expected soon.

Students may choose from two levels of emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Basic EMTs are licensed to provide basic life support and to assist the sick and injured. Paramedics are licensed to provide all aspects of advanced life support, including cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, cardioversion, emergency pacing, administration of medications, and intubation.

Paramedics are in high demand locally and across the US. The occupational outlook includes a 36% increase in the number of positions available in Alabama through the year 2014. NACC has had a 100% job placement rate for paramedic graduates since the program inception in 1999.

If you are interested in enrolling in one of these programs, telephone Roger Wootten at extension 355, or e-mail woottenr@nacc.edu. For more specific program requirements go to www.nacc.edu and click on Emergency Medical Services.

Spring registration is January 3 and 4, 2008. Late registration continues January 7-11.
