Cosmetology Training in Scottsboro
Construction is almost complete on Northeast Alabama Community
College’s new cosmetology training center in Scottsboro. Located
in Liberty Plaza (across from Western Sizzlin’), the
5600-square-foot facility will provide classroom and laboratory
space as well as a fully functional salon in which students will
be able to practice their skills.
“We are excited to be at this point,” stated Mike Kennamer,
NACC’s Director of Workforce Development. “Construction is
almost complete; truckloads of equipment are arriving. We are
now seeing come to fruition what was once just an idea on
paper,” he continued.
Julise Clement, who has taught cosmetology at the DeKalb County
Technology Center in Rainsville, has been hired to run the
program and is overseeing the development of the center. Daytime
cosmetology, nail technology, and esthetics (skin care) classes
will be taught beginning in the fall semester. The college will
continue to teach nighttime cosmetology classes at the DeKalb
County Technology Center in Rainsville as it has since last
fall.
“We are looking forward to serving the area with this new
facility,” stated Dr. David Campbell, NACC president. “I think
it will be a great addition to the community.”
Fall semester classes start August 22. Anyone interested in
enrolling in the cosmetology program at Scottsboro or Rainsville
should apply for admission through the college’s Admissions
Office. For more information about the program, e-mail Julise
