Northeast Alabama Adult Education Program at NACC Receives "A" on Statewide Success Report Card

Dr. David Campbell, President of Northeast Alabama Community College, is pleased to announce notification that the Northeast Alabama Adult Education Program, located at and managed/operated by Northeast, has received its statewide success report card for the 2005-2006 fiscal year. This report card reflects an “A” for the program.

The program was also ranked number one in performance among traditional adult education programs in the State of Alabama. This evaluation includes the number of students enrolled, the number getting their GED, and those entering college, gaining employment, retaining employment, and the number of hours students attend classes.

The program not only has the largest enrollment, but it also has the largest ESL (English as a Second Language) Program in the state. For the majority of the past twenty-five years, the program has also had the largest GED graduation.

According to Program Director Randall White, this program’s numbers have been increasing every year, whereas the numbers for the state as a whole have been declining. He attributes much of the success of the program to the support of Dr. Campbell. White also gives credit to all of his program teachers and aides for this great accomplishment. “We all work together very effectively to see that the accountability measures for each student are achieved and recorded,” said White. “Together we will continue to work hard to meet and serve the learner needs in our area.”

"It is Mr. White and his staff who have gone out and established this outstanding adult education program,” said Campbell. “It is an exceptional accomplishment for the program to be the top ranked traditional adult education program in Alabama. That accomplishment is just testimony to the work Mr. White and his staff does for our community. As the Alabama economy grows and changes, adult education is taking on even a more and more important role. Now GED graduates come out of the program with some excellent job skills that can be adapted to this new Alabama economy. We are very proud to support the work Mr. White and his staff are doing in helping Alabama move forward and improving the lives of so many people through education."

For more specific information or class locations and times, please contact the Adult Education Program office at NACC at 638-4418 or 228-6001, ext. 551 or 555. The offices are located in the W. M. Beck Health and Fine Arts Building on campus.
