The production chronicles a small group of friends and the ties that bind them through life, love, and mortality. Revolving around Truvy's Beauty Parlor, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done, the movie version launched the career of Julia Roberts and garnered her first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Filled with humor and heartbreak, these "Steel Magnolias" make us laugh and cry as the realities of their lives in tiny Chiquapin Parish unfolds.
