Judge John Graham Addresses OAD Students

Students in Office Administration classes at Northeast Alabama Community College recently attended a presentation by Judge John Graham, guest lecturer. Judge Graham, who has been Circuit Judge for Jackson County for five years, addressed Professionalism in the Office. He spoke on telephone and cell phone etiquette, professional greetings, working with the public, grammar, dress codes, Netiquette, and going the extra mile in your job.

Graham also shared a handout on Qualities Employers Are Looking For In Employees, excerpted from www.msu.edu/course/tsm/251/DigitalPortfolioGuidebook.pdf. Subjects included and discussed included Working in a Diverse Environment; Managing Time and Priorities; Acquiring Knowledge; Thinking Critically; Communicating Effectively; Solving Problems; Contributing to a Team; Navigating Across Boundaries; Performing with Integrity; Developing Professional Competencies; Balancing Work and Life; and Embracing Change.

Students attending the presentation remarked that Judge Graham gave an excellent presentation and was very entertaining. The subject matter was very interesting and caused the students to think about professionalism in the workplace and in every day life.
