The Medical Assisting program at Northeast Alabama Community
College prepares students for exciting careers in a variety of
health care facilities. Graduates of the program are trained to
perform both administrative and clinical duties needed for
employment in a clinic or physician's office. Medical Assisting
is one of the fastest growing occupations in the United States,
according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Northeast is authorized to offer both a short-term certificate
and the Associate in Applied Science degree in Medical
Assisting. Graduates are eligible for testing for the Registered
Medical Assistant (RMA) credential and may also opt to meet
requirements for phlebotomy certification. For those who wish to
pursue a 4-year degree, the AAS in Medical Assisting may apply
toward a B.S. in Health Science at Athens State University.
Instructors are highly qualified in their field and
enthusiastically assist their students in becoming successful.
In addition to traditional classroom studies, students are
exposed to real-life learning situations through a required
preceptorship.
