If you are a Chapter 30 veteran and you feel you qualify for VA educational
assistance benefits, contact the Veterans' Affairs Office in the county in which
you reside to complete an Application for VA Benefits. Bring the completed
Application for VA Benefits to the Financial Aid Office after you have
registered for classes. The Financial Aid Office will submit relevant paperwork
to the VA Regional Office in Decatur, Georgia.
If you are a veteran and you feel you qualify for VA Vocational Rehabilitation
(Chapter 31) benefits (monthly check, tuition, books, etc.), contact Ruben
Neeley or a member of his staff at the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment
Office, 200 Westside Square, Suite 205, Huntsville, AL 35801, phone (256)
518-9122. If you are approved for Chapter 31 benefits, Mr. Neeley or a member of
his staff will send notification to NACC's Financial Aid Office. After you
register for classes, stop by the Financial Aid Office to discuss submission of
your Chapter 31 paperwork to begin your monthly educational assistance check.
If you enlist in the National Guard or Reserves, you may qualify for Chapter 106
VA education benefits (a monthly educational assistance check). Obtain a NOBE
(Notice of Basic Eligibility) form from your unit. Bring that form to the
Financial Aid Office at Northeast after you have registered for classes;
complete an Application for VA Benefits form in the Financial Aid Office, which
will submit your paperwork to the VARO.
If you feel you qualify for federal VA educational benefits (a monthly check)
based on a parent's or spouse's military service, contact the Veterans' Service
office in the county in which you reside and complete the necessary paperwork
for submission to the VA Regional Office in Decatur, Georgia. If you are
eligible for federal benefits, you will receive a certificate of eligibility for
Chapter 35 (federal VA educational) benefits. After you register for classes at
Northeast, take the certificate of eligibility for Chapter 35 benefits to the
Financial Aid Office so that personnel in that office can certify you for
monthly VA benefits.
If you feel you qualify for Alabama benefits (tuition and books) based on a
parent's or a spouse's military service, contact the Veterans' Affairs Office in
the county in which you reside and complete the necessary paperwork for
submission to the VA Regional Office. If you are eligible for Alabama benefits,
you will receive a certificate of eligibility which you will supply to the
Financial Aid Office when you register. This office takes care of billing for
the Alabama GI Dependents' program.

Benefit eligibility questions must be answered by the VA or Veterans' Service
Offices/Veterans' Affairs Offices at the county level or by the VA (www.gibill.va.gov).
