We will help you fill out your application for Financial Aid!
Help sessions are every Wednesday when classes are in session, at 1:00 p.m. in SC 115. Bring your most recent tax return form. If possible, get a FAFSA pin number beforehand at www.pin.ed.gov.

If you cannot make one of these sessions, contact the Financial Aid Office for assistance.

FEDERAL PELL GRANT – The Pell Grant is an entitlement program which does not have to be repaid. The award will range from $556 to $5,550 per academic year. Pell Grant payments will be paid to eligible students who have a completed Financial Aid File. Any funds remaining will be paid directly to the student by check. The Business Office will issue checks within 14 calendar days after the first day of class.

DIRECT LOAN PROGRAM – The Direct Loan Program provides financial aid through borrowing funds from the U.S. Department of Education. Repayment begins six months after the borrow leaves college or drops below half-time status. Loans are either subsidized or unsubsidized. Students must show financial need to qualify for subsidized (interest-free) loans. Students do not have to show financial need to qualify for unsubsidized (low-interest) loans.

FEDERAL COLLEGE WORK-STUDY – Federal College Work-Study provides jobs on campus for students who need financial aid and who must earn a part of their educational expenses. Students work up to 15 hours per week at the minimum wage rate and are paid at the end of each month. Limited positions are available each year.

FEDERAL SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT – The Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant may range from $300 to $600 per academic year and does not have to be repaid. It is based on the lowest Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The Business Office will issue the checks within 14 calendar days after the first day of class.

ALABAMA STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM GRANT – The Alabama Student Assistance Program Grant may range from $300 to $600 per academic year and is determined by the lowest Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The Business Office will issue checks within 7 days after funds are received from the State.

VETERANS’ EDUCATION BENEFITS – If you feel you are eligible for state or federal benefits based on your military service or that of a parent or spouse, please refer to the VA Benefits page or contact Holly Williams, Stacy Guffey, or Jennifer Brown at college phone ext 2327.

WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT (WIA) – The U.S. Congress passed the Workforce Investment Act in 1998 to create a customer-focused approach to investing in workforce activities. To determine eligibility you need to visit your local Career Center: Rainsville (on NACC campus) 256-638-2239, Fort Payne 256-844-4709, Scottsboro 256-574-4512, and Albertville 256-891-7722. TRADE READJUSTMENT ACT (TRA) – The TRA program helps workers who have lost their jobs as a result of foreign trade.
