Ms. Smith is a charter alumnae of Northeast Alabama Community College. She transferred from Northeast to the University of Tennessee where she received her B. S. and M. Ed. She went on to the University of Alabama where she earned her Education Specialist Degree.

She began her teaching career at Bridgeport High School and then moved to Gordon Lee Memorial High School in Chickamauga, Georgia, to teach high school language arts and drama for twenty-four years. Now retired from the state of Georgia, she is teaching wherever she is needed in the English Department at Northeast. Ms. Smith has been on staff here since 1995 and has truly enjoyed the opportunity to teach so many deserving students.
